Dave,
I love your book and your playing. You are a true inspiration!
wow....man i have been a drummer for a very long time and dammit man....you are fn smokin'! what kind of books can you reccomend to tighten up and expand my chops.....do you have anything published?
Hey, Dave - finally got round to reading EVERY book on the reading list (and I'm talking about the one on the older version of the site, too!). It's really given me the opportunity to clear up a load of "head stuff" (and heaven knows I've been on a crazy journey in the way life has unfolded in just under two years, and a lot of those books have been a real source of inspiration and allowed me find a light of perserverance and inspiration within that doesn't seem to EVER want to go out) as well as given me a fresh perspective on the visceral/ emotional aspect in life/ music and the application thereof. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your commitment to communicating to all of us that in order to be better people/ musicians/ drummers etc we need to have depth to manifest the greatest of our potential - it ain't all hot licks and practicing with a metronome (well...kind of)! I await more insights on ways to detatch and your second book (never thought I'd spend so much time clapping and using my voice to subdivide!) with aplomb. Chris
Hey Dave,
you may not remember me, I used to frequent DiCenso's quite a bit back in the day. I've also played a lot over the years with Bob Paluccio. Anyway, your web site host company sent me an email, I noticed you in their gallery so I checked out your site. I just wanted to say I think it's great. I hope you're doing well. -JF
P.S. Funny, I was a bouncer years ago at the Ranch House in Marshfield where you were rocking one crazy, summer Saturday night.
Hey, I loved your drumming on Petrucci's Suspended Animation record. Planning on auditioning for Berklee to attend next fall, maybe I'll meet you!
Oldest friend of your dad
Congratulation on your success
I travelled to Las Vegas in June 2011 to see Josh Groban perform. As soon as the music began, it was obvious there was something special about the drummer. I turned to my wife and said, "Julie, watch the drummer. He is so filled with joy and passion that he can hardly stay on the stool." After the concert was over I had the opportunity to talk with several members of the band. I eventually saw an unfamiliar face and so I asked, "are you the new drummer?" He said "yes". I asked, "what is your name?" He said, "Dave DiCenso." For those of you who know Dave, no words are needed to describe him. For those who don't, I can only try. Dave the musician, is talented, passionate, engaging, creative, and plays from his soul. Dave the person....beautiful spirit, sensitive, humble, caring, and grateful, Thanks Dave, for an evening of music and conversation. You make the world better by being a part of it.
I have been studying your book and learning a lot. Thanks for putting it together!
